Hi i just recently finished cycling my 75 gallon and just bought 2 silver datnoid but for some reason they are just hiding in the cave for 2 days now. i checked the water the amm 0.0
nitrate 0.0 nitirte 0.0 and PH 7.4 put only the finest water from a Reverse osmosis filter. if anyone can please help me , Oh and i've been trying to feed them frozen bloodworms and shrimp.
 
They could just be stressed from going to an all new environment, if it lasts for more then 4 or 5 days then I would be concerned. I wouldn't be concerned just yet though, I believe they are just stressed :)
 
Probably just getting used to new surroundings. As long as they don't appear to be stressed, they should eventually come around.
 
If you give em a place to hide they will till they are hungry....They may stay in there most of the time until they outgrow the space. I would add three more so they dont begin to spar.
 
What's the water temp and also keep the lights off or low and they will get more comfortable. Also I don't think u did a ton of research since a lot of dats hide most of the time since they are ambush predators. How big are they?
 
Are you just using pure RO or using some sort of RO Right or similar product to reconstitute it? Just curious
 
thanks guys for all the reply, as you can tell i've never taken care of a datnoids before but i have a lot of exp with silver arowana. Would it be ok if i put a 4inch Aro with my 2 silver datnoids ? i have a 150 gallon for when they get older but for now is the 75 gallon okay?

my temp is 80F and my datnoids are only about 3 to 4 inch.
 
You shouldn't use pure RO on your tank... You need to use either a mix of RO and tap or dose your RO with a supplement.
 
i guess i can mix like 20% tap water but my tap water is really hard, i tested the water and it reads like 8.7 ph.
