I hope to be wrong but this fish appears rather sick. It's nose is smashed badly and appears rotting. The eye is cloudy, appears popped and inflamed.

It also may have the ick. If he tries to rub against surfaces, his skin is irritated and likely it is the ick - white crumbs on fish's skin.

i thought it was ick but wanted a second opinion, the eyes is cloudy and i dont know why hence im asking for help and i think he swam into the glass on the side of the tank> what is the best course of treatment for it?

i thought it was ick but wanted a second opinion,

***If it looks like white crumbs, it is most likely the ick - salt (up to 3 table spoons a gal) is good or anti-ick drugs, like Malachite Green + formaldehyde combo. Ridick is a nice brand.

the eyes is cloudy and i dont know why

***Were they ok when you got it? It could be the effect of the smashing the face. It hit something real, real hard.

Salt will also help healing the wounded tissue. If it turns red, that's an inflammation - antibiotics would be needed, like a combo of nitrofurazone and furazolidone.

The popped/bruised/swollen eye - I don't know what to treat that with. Hopefully, it will recover. Some claim Melafix can fix that but I am not convinced of that whatsoever.

So far I have no other ideas.

IMO, it is unnecessary to raise the temp right away when treating with salt and it is very rarely necessary to raise the temp that high ever, almost never above 84-85 F.

If 3-4 days of salt (no temp) treatment show no effect, then the temp can be bumped up little by little. The higher the temp, the more aeration/agitation will be needed as the tank water will lose much oxygen.

Salt needs to be added step-by-step too, perhaps over 3 days, from 1 table spoon a gal, to 2, then to 3.

Thanks!

I went to my LFS and they said it doesn't look infected so to put in the ich/white spot treatment and then after a week or so add some melafix
