Need some help....i have a johanna (8inches) who was in a tank with a jag (14 inches), Sveni (7 inches) and a belly crawler(5.5 inches). I came home from work last night and found him beat right up. Looks like a clamp was shut tight around his mouth, his tail has been nipped at and has a couple markings along him body. The worst is around his mouth and face. Looks like either my sveni or belly crawler got a good hold of his mouth and tried to tear it off...he is still active some what and doesnt really look like he is lifeless or dying. Just looks like he is really badly hurt. He was removes right away from the tank. just want to know if i should treat him or how to do it. Or let him heal on his own.

I would put my money on the jag doing that. maybe the sveni since they're similar sized.

Definitely quarantine, but probably just good clean water and let him heal. If he doesn't look better after a day or two, let us know.

+1 on the jag being the attacker. Like Conner said, good clean water and time are probably your best bet. Maybe a little salt to help with slime coat.

My Jaguar would always try and pick a fight with my Xingu I female luckly she was bigger by 5" on him and would whoop him.

How big is your tank?

Might want to dose a little with Melafix to make sure no bacteria infections happen. Should be a last resort though. Hope everything works out for ya! Pity to loose a pike over something like that. :(

The tank is a 125 gallon tank. The Johanna is doing much better and is eating and swimming around again. The nasty cut around his head is healing and making good progress. i dont see no issues with him not fully healing. Thanks for all the info everyone.
