i got it yesterday, and its abotu 2-3'' in my 10gallon tank.
he seemed very skittish so he just chills in the corner of my tank near the bottom.
today , i bought a grip of guppies, and threw them in. he doesnt really chase them, but if they get close enough to him, he'll eat them.

basically, he's not swimming around much, but just staying in the corner. he's probably still skittish and maybe a little stressed. is there anything i should be concerned about?
and when will he be more active?

Give it some time. Maybe you can keep the lights off for a little while until he gets more accumated. Is the tank newly set up? Else - have you checked your water params?

tank is fairly new. about 2 weeks old, so it should be some-what cycled.
i had a pair of convicts who spawned before i put the leichardti in.
i've been keeping the light on to make his colors nicer, but i think ill keep them off for a week or so.
should i give him a hiding spot so he doesnt feel so scared? or leave it empty so he adjusts to me?

Just give him some time to adjust.

You can try and add some floating plants for him to cover in.

Try and dim the lights too. Don't make them too bright.

I have a 3-4" incher that has only been in my tank for a week. He has been eating 5-7 times a day on freeze dried bloodworms and mysis shrimp. I haven't even bothered turning the light on and for the first 3-4 days I didn't even bother to try and watch him swim, eat, anything. I watch from literally ten feet back from the tank just to make sure he is eating. Turn your light off, try some floating small food, ie bloodworms and just let him be. He will get comfortable in time. After only a week mine gets lined up right under the lid every time I go near the tank because he knows its feeding time but the first couple days he was very very skittish just as yours is. GOod Luck

thanks, thats reassuring.
but mine stays at the bottom of the tank allday, so floating pellets did not work >_<.
he has plenty of guppies in there to last him, so should i just wait it out? where can i get some floating plants

when the guppies are gone... give some pellets... my leichardti's are eating pellets while having guppies. if they are tired of chassing the guppies they will take the pellets. bottom and not active... adjusting most probably. watch your water parameters.. hopefully your 10 gal is fully cycled. :)
