right ive had him a few days and when i first had him he was swiming all over the place yesterday and today all he has done is sit at bottom of tank under all the plants he looks fine and is still eating is this just normal ornate birch behaviour thanks for any help:)

If it's eating fine then yes it's normal behavior. Ornates tend to be nocturnal when smaller and they're very shy fish also so it'll spend most of its time hiding.

ya, if it's eating, it's normal. seems to me, at least with mine, that they are more active when they're a little stressed, like if you put them in a new tank or add new inhabitants.

ornates tend to be very lazy

:iagree: When put into a new setup, or after a decor change, my ornate will zoom all over, but eventually calms down and acts just as your is.

I had my female ornate for about 6 months before I saw her.She lived in the plants near the surface the only way I knew she was alive is her food was gone in he morning. Its probable yours is just active at night right now and rests during the day-Anne
