I have a female bp/fh cross, i got her when she was about and inch long and i bought a similar size bp who is a male. As soon as he hit her tank she started doing the dance for him and at this point they are both about 2 years old.
She has laid many clutches of eggs nearly with every water change i do she begins to spawn. I have watched this process for the last year. The male will hang out with her where she digs her nest to the bottom of the tank, (her favorite place to lay her eggs), but never have the eggs hatched. They will sit on the bottom with her defending them until all the eggs seem to die. I know that many bp are sterilized before being put on the market.
This being said my question is now that they are paired off if another male of any species were to enter the tank will she pair off with that fish if she feels the need. I guess im wondering if anyone has ever had an experience like a fish changing its pair mate.
They are in a 200g community tank now any help would be greatly appreciated.
