Like everybody know fish stores suck at nameing fish. Around where I live we dont get any good pikes. So I'll have to do with what my stores suppy. Can anybody tell my what the real name for these pikes are. One type the store has is a red pike and the other is a green pike. So if anybody can tell me what I will be getting I would appreciate it.

Red pike is either Cren. johanna or Cren. sp venezuela (more than likely the latter)
Green pike is typically Cren. compressiceps.

also know that the red gets big and green stays small, just to help you make sure you got the room for one oe the other.
Never heard of venz. being called red pikes, but the red pike is almost 100% johanna...also called rainbow pike. The green pike is indeed most likely the Crenicichla compressiceps.

i agree and if i were you i'd get the Johanna. That may be one of the more common pikes but in my opinion they are the coolest. I gave up my Johanna to make room for other more exoctic pikes and to this day that i wish i had just kept it. Johanna's have the best personality in my opinion.
