Its been a while since i have been on here. I just bought a baby red devil about 1.5-2 inches long. I have him in a 10 gallon tank now because he is so small. Once bigger he will have his own 55. Anyways i got him yesterday and he has just been laying on the gravel since, is he just stressed or is he sick?

Yea he may be sick he may be just stressed depends we need more info.. Hows the colors? How long have you had him in there a day? Whos in there with him? Whats the water params? blah blah you know the drill! Ive had electric blues turn almost white laying on the ground for a day then next day they snapped out of it. However my brothers had some who did that but died.. it just depends. Where did you get him?

I bought him at petsmart. I always get my fish there no problems. He is a whitish red color like he was when i bought him. He moves to different spots but stays closer to the bottom. The water is the same as my 55 so its cycled because i used water from it and one of the filters. Idk exact because i dont own a test kit.

my experience is CA's that grow large (RD, Dovii, Jag's etc) dont do well getting moved around. My one RD will sit on bottom for up to a week before he gets enough hunger to go up to the top and sip some pellets and go for a walk around his new tank. my dovii is even worse, everytime he gets moved my roommate goes nuts with the salt and swears he's gonna die. I say just leave the lights off and put up some decor if its a bare or barren tank, just to make him feel comfy. oh ya my jag did this too for 3 days until one day my baby RD killed him

I appreciate the help. He must have been really stressed. I watched him last night for a while and he is just very very shy. He swam around a little bit and went into his pot and pushed his body up against it to blend in i think. He won't come out unless he sees me but he is a character when he doesn't. Once again thanks everyone who helped.
