ok, i had a 55 gallon tank that sprang a leak. So we had to go out and get a new 125 gallon. But the problem is that the previous owners had it set up as a salt water tank. I have scrubbed the the entire tank down and the sub tank. But there there is still some dried salt and grime on the water pump and tubes in the tank. Will this cause problems for my freshwater fish??? they are a green sunfish, oscars, channel cats and my pride and joy red tail catfish '' bruiser".. thanks nate

try and soak the pump and hoses in hot water for a while (30mins or so) that should loosen it up, then you can wipe down the pump and able to clear out the pipe by running water through it.

Use a razor blade, or a vinegar solution to remove it. It takes some work. The salt should be fine with the fish. There are people on here who use marine salt in their tanks.

thanks guys, im kinda weary because i have so much money put into the fish, between the oscars, RTC and channel cats plus the Green sunfish its a couple hundred dollars of fish in it

well the fish are doing ok, except my RTC and Greensunfish, they are still pissed and not wanting to eat. when i moved the RTC he let out some croaking noises cuz he was so mad at me. hopefully he starts eating soon

He might not eat for a week, but you shouldn't worry. Some fish just hate being moved... even if it is to a bigger house. Some salt in freshwater tanks is nothing to worry about.
