Alright, So after lots of looking I've finally found a new tank for myself. couldn't find a 180 but i found a wide 150, or 155, whatever it is .. dimensions are 60"L x 26"w x 23"h .. so i'm pretty happy with those dimensions i'll settle with loosing a foot in length to get 26" wide over a standard 150. I'm driving 3 1/2 hours to get the tank this sunday (i will post up the pics after that he sent me to get your guys final opinion. gotten a few opinions already and everyone said it looked good.)

The tank will have 2x fluval 404's running on it (unless someone thinks i shouldnt be doing this but since ones included and i already have one it seems decent and enough filtration).

now last but not least the stocking list .. this is where i'm looking for help / suggestions...

so far ive come to be thinking i will go with,

2x bichirs (sen, endli, ornate .. would like peoples opinion on two that would look good together)

1x lima shovel (just a possibility if this isn't a good idea please let me know what could replace it maybe or other ideas)

that will take care of the bottom.

for the top i'm thinking a gar not sure what type. florida or spotted maybe? suggestions here will help. I wanna add an aro to the top bad but I won't :( unless anyone thinks i could get a few years out of that foot print tank.

and still open to suggestions for a middle fish somewhat active maybe ..
this is where im very open to suggestions something that will get along with my tank .. oscar? 2x jds? ... what can you guys suggest for this.

if anyone has any other stocking ideas put them out there!
so summary is...

2x bichirs
1x lima
1x gar
and open minded after this .. and in general

thanks in advance mfk!!! do it up.

it sounds like after all of those questions in your previous posts, you're finally almost set and ready to go. i say go for it! congrats and good luck with your tank and fish!

by the way, consider an eel rather than that big catfish. maybe a tire track or a fire. i have 2 tire tracks. one is 12 inches and fat as ever and the other is about 8 inches and plump. they're fun fish and can be hand fed.

i think your tank is big enough for an aro. do you like rays?

do you think so? does anyone else think this foot print is suitable for an aro for a few years? orr?

and as for rays .. i do like them yes but i wanna aquascape my tank more dont gonna have enough bottom room for a ray. one day i will switch up my tank and have a ray in there though.

and philly .. ya that thread was a tangle. decided to have everything alot more figured out before i reposted. now i got my tank size etc so hopefully this thread goes better lol

if you like it and think it's worth the asking price, go ahead. it doesn't look dirty. i would only be concerned about leaks. talk to him about that.

i did and he assured me its never had a leak at all. he said its 5 yrs old but only had been used for 1 and a half years. and never had a problem with it at all. it looks good and clean to me .. i'm paying $500 CAD for the tank .. fluval 404, light heaters etc etc. which to me seems like a great deal for around here. no stand though so im going to need to find a stand, or most likely diy one (or get someone else to build it for me) does anyone know of a stand diy thread with a stand built for this dimension tank?

Good luck and welcome to the world of fishkeeping. If you're like most of us on here, it's a hobby that'll stick with you your whole life.

Do some searches on stands. There are tons of DIY on this site....just gotta use that search function.

im not new to fish keeping .. just a new tank lol. ive had fish for a few years now. just finally moved up to a bigger tank now.

I'd forget the lima unless you're definitely getting lower-jaw polys AND they're larger than the lima from the start.

For mid-tank, a nice shoal of tiger scats would be an active addition.

Those tank dimensions make the tank a 155 (provided your measurements are internal surfaces).
