wen I bought the red oscar the guy vented him and said male 100% and I vented the other myself looked female same as urs they are both about 7-8months old I dont think they need tht big people breed them in 75 gallons Im getting a 180 gallon so tht should be plenty for them right now they r growing in my 60 gallon I meed tht 180 soon I plan getting it in julyCute little O's you got there.
I have not breed Oscars myself, but my research into it says that Oscar's don't even sexually mature till 1.5 years old. At this point they will be nearly full grown so would need a big tank. Bare min in my eyes for a pair of full size Oscars after raising my Toni this last year would be an 8ftx2x how ever high you like, 24in being the min.
Now I am not a genetics master, but albino is a resesive trait, so more than likely will be 75%normal red and 25%albino fry.
Did you vent check to get thier sexes?
Here is this pic of my Toni you can see one small hole and one bigger. That makes her female. Males have two simular sized holes. Other wise Oscars are so very simular in appearance it's hard if not impossile to sex them.View attachment 1318928
okGood to hear, the no fighting part.
Now the waiting so long for them to spawn is a win lose sorta situation. Unlike other species that can be undersized when adult from over breeding at a young age. Oscars get most of thier size before breeding is even possible. Here is the lose side of it, you need bigger tanks to breed in due to the bigger fish, and it's mating dance and fights they do before they even start to lay eggs. Female Oscars will fight with the male before she will breed with him. In smaller tanks they can hurt each other on tge decor during this so clear your tank when it's time for them to start this part.
Also if you didn't know that during the frys development, there is a stage that the fry eat the SLIME coat off of mom and dad to feed, so pristine water conditions will be needed.
