Help with overflow box

Hello MFK, I have another situation that only I could get into. I just got a sump and overflow box for my 29 gallon, but when I finaly hooked everything up ( which took me forever lol) I could not fiqure out how to get the return hose to attach to the overflow box. I am possitive everything is set up right too. Someone told me to put a hose clip on there there to make it stick.( the clip you would put on your hose outside) The overflow box is an Eshopps. Thanks in advance.

What is the connection coming ouy of the overflow box? It should be a 1" pvc pipe. The hose should slowly slide right over tightly. You dont need a clamp

I am not sure what the connection is called but it is not a pvc pipe. I can pick a pvc pipe up today, would that solve my problem? thanks

What is it a bulkhead threaded on outside? If so, the inside of it should be smooth so you can glue a piece of pvc into it. Round off the edge a bit to make it easier to slide on hose
