I've recently setup my 400 gallon and I'm indecisive on what design i should use for my overhead sump! I currently have an fx6 stuffed with media and 5 large sponge filters for biological filtration. Have 2 wave makers for additional flow also so just need something mechanical overhead. Any suggestions?
Stock is 2 24" peacock bass, 15" tiger datnoid, 14" silver arowana, 30" lungfish20201210_215735.jpg

Is that a window above and behind the tank, that could provide natural light?.
If so, and even if its not intense Iight, I would put a long refuguim/sump all long the back and grow either semi aquatic, or even terrestrial low light requiring plants in it.
I would have the effluent water of the fx6 enter at one end, end exit the tank on the other, allowing the plants to use nitrate along the length of the journey.
Or just hanging terrestrial plants in the tank that could make use of the sunlight would also work.
I just hang those type plants in my tank, and find the roots make for a natural look.

I have no advice to offer but I wouldn't mind seeing more photos of that big datnoid.

Very nice markings and base color on the big guy, thanks for sharing.

Normally they are all fine but the bass are trying to mate right now and the datnoid isn't having it lol
Cute.I suspected that they were engaging in mating behavior.
