just got 6 juvenile rbps today hard to get pics but i'll try aftershift ....

i need help guys cuz they're not eating the chicken breast i have they also wouldnt eat the cichlid pellets and dried bloodworms
at the lfs they had guppies in the tank with them all i have is tilapia slightly smaller than them i dont think they could eat them
im afraid that they may canibalize if i dont get something they would eat.
4 of them are shoaling but the other 2 are always hiding got lots of plants and a large driftwood heres a link to the tank

any suggestion's beef heart aint an option cuz the butcher is away
thanks in advance

keep the lights out and give them some time...it took about a week for mine to eat when I first got them...how big are they...if they are large enough to eat small feeder guppies do that. I would put about 8 or so in with my small rbp's and they would normally get eaten within about 6 hours...i gave them feeders to get them eating then later on introduced other foods..(I'd try to avoid the chicken breast if at all possible)

thanx for the info
lights are currently out and will avoid chicked breast
had problems with nipping when you got them???

thanks

would you suggest covering the tank with a blanket or something>??

probably don't need to. they just need time to get use to the new surrounding

i see from the pic that you have a few guppies in your tank. in a way their presence might help in diffusing the reds' aggression towards each other. give them time, my reds took about 3 days before they ate anything. just keep trying to feed them..and now's probably a good time to train them to eat pellets. good luck.

yeah if you can get them hooked on pellets do it!!!, mine won't make the switch now and their only 5 months old and will only eat shrimp, worms, heart and feeders... so do what you can while their young and just keep an eye on them. i've fed mine more than twice a day for the first few months and i still had one of my four go crazy and try and kill the littlest P but they all made it through that stage and now just control their territory in a healthy way.
