I'm planning to change the background of my aquarium from blue to black.
I did the painting my self before. problem is the clearance between wall and back of the tank is about 6 - 8 inches only and my tank is 8 foot long.
any ideas on how to do this ?

cant remove the inhabitants and move the tank. its too heavy.

I can't see you removing it without at least moving the tank to give yourself more space. A glass scraper/razor removes paint easily.

Gonna be real tough, i just did this on a 4 foot 75 and it was not easy. I only had to paint it too. I'd say if you can get a long handled scraper maybe but realistically you are gonna have to move the tank i'd bet

Thanks here are some
Pictures
Of the actual tank ,
The clearance at the back isabout 6 inch or less

another thought popped into my mind,
Anybody here using acrylic sheets in the tank as aquarium background?
how do you get it to tay upright in the tank?

dam nice arrows ;) I cant see you removing the paint without moving the tank but If I was in your shoes I wouldn't want to be touching the asains also!

My friend uses acrylic as backgrounds for his tanks, he silicones them on the top 2-5 little dots then slides it inside the tank before wet, I imagine if you got 10-15 magnets not too strong and place them on the acrylic and behind the tank it would hold in place, if you cut it tight enough it should stay by its self. I will say the acrylic has a much neater finish to it imo.

I have this same problem too. My tank has a blue textured paint that I want to remove but there's no way I can move the tank since I have to do it by myself. I'm thinking of getting a 3D background without needing to use silicon. But if acrylic and magnet works, I'd like to give that a try since I've always wanted a black background. Please keep us posted on how it goes. :)

Good luck!
