Hey Guys,
I'm getting ready to order the bottom piece for my 220 and I have a dilemma. Since the bottom was broken, I took it all out and cut away most of the silicone. I'm still working on it. The original piece was inside the tank walls. I can't decide if I should have my new piece cut to fit inside the tank walls, or have the walls sit on top of it. I'm thinking on the inside. I'm having new framing built from 3/8" angle iron and having it powdercoated, so I know theseams won't budge. What should I do?

personally i fell 6 to one 1/2 dozen to another..the only benefit i can see is that you will gain an extra (3/8, 1/2 whatever the glass thickness is) of water depth if you set the walls on top and the the water will have to chage direction for it to leak out instead of straight down (not knowcking your work..just saying)...also 3/8" doesnt seam like much of a frame for a 220..maybe u mean 3/8" thick not width...just my $.02

it will need to be exact size and will be fairly dificult to fit but inside is best
Tanks are made this way for maximum strength at the seams

The piece that was originally inside left about 1/16" short on each side. The seams were definately strong. Believe me, taking it apart was a week-long chore, and I still don't have all the silicone off. Other folks I've talked to have recommeneded the inside, also. I'm gonna order a piece that it the exact size as the piece that was in there before. Whoever had it before apparently tried to drill their own holes and messed it up, so we got the tank for $75 :o)

*#$%&$ Glass place misquoted me and it's gonna be about $60 more than I though, so it's on hold for a couple more weeks :(

PICS man PICS!!!
