we have a nearly 9 inch pleco in a 55 gal that does an ok job at cleaning algae but makes so much waste. with it is some angels, hatchet fish zebra danios, all of my fish kinda do their own thing I would like to replace the pleco with a new clean up crew. Maybe some cories, and kuhli loaches. I'm looking for non aggressive bottom feeders that don,t get too large, and maybe something that will still feed on the algae. any ideas would be greatly appreciated, Thanks :) here are some pics of the pleco sorry for the quality

I'd say go with some different kinds of cories, or larger cories. I haven't had kuhli loaches, but I have had a clown loach in one tank, and a pakistani yoyo loach in another tank. Both of those loaches I'm afraid will nip at the angels long fins. However, if I'm not mistaken the kuhli loaches are the least aggresive, I just don't know how they'd deal with angels.

Kuhli loaches are fine. I'd combined yoyos and clowns with my angels with no issues but clowns are not an option for a 55g. Kuhlis, Botia striata, yoyos and kubotais are much better options for this one. Don't combine kuhlis with any of the other loaches though. They cannot tolerate the antics of their cousins.

The yoyo loach was super active, which was very entertaining. But, I caught him nibbling at my tiger pleco's dorsal fin, and chasing/stressing a gourami so I got rid of him. This was also in a 30 gallon community tank whereas you're going with.

I'd go with kuhli's.

I suspect it is because you keep your yoyo by itself. Is that correct? I kept them in groups, not individually.

Yup Bristlenose Pleco for sure mate and Cories but remember just because you have fish cleaning Algae does not mean they replace Water Changes....

we still do weekly water changes of 20 to 30 percent algae is mostly from all the natural sunlight the tank
gets, the fish love it, me... not so much it makes alot of extra work.LOL
Thanks for all of suggestions, pics are always welcome, I'm not to familiar with botia or kubotais I'm sure if I saw them...bristle nose is an option, I know where there is a nice looking albino right now! Thanks again

Britlenosed plecos, or gold nugget plecos would look good in there.
