help with RTC

hi guys , i want to ask for your expertise on the red tailed catfish , at the moment i have myn in a 182 gallon tank , 7 foot long , the question is realistically how big should i let him get before moving him to a bigger aquarium or even pond , would he be ok at 3 ft in this tank . im uk based and it seems to be less people here with knowledge of the bigger cats . any info would be great , Andy

Its more the with of the tank not the lenght that is the problem. The rtc needs a large foot print not water deapth. think singray tank lay out

Would last until he is 2 feet, maybe 2' 4" but not 3..

82x30x30 is a 320 gallon.

Funny how you're talkling on gallon measurement instead of liters...and it's similar to other tank sizes.

I don't think rtc's should be in tanks at all, from day one when they are babies they should be in a pond, tanks are too skinny no matter how long the tank is , mine is in a pond and is only about 6 inches long and have had him now for 2 months.
