I had posted this in the general thread but did not receive a response.

Hello.....My fish started to scratch on the sand substrate in my aquarium. I now noticed white spots on my P Bass & TSN. I raised the temp to 86 degrees and added 33oz of aquarium salt. The carton states treats up to 220 gl of water. My tank is 300 gl and was wondering if this amount is enought taking the substrate and driftwood, etc into account? Any advise would be greatly appriciated.

kinds like white spot, just keep the temp high and add the salt. Let us know if there are signs of improvment. If not you may want to consider meds...

The Meds i use But, I tend not to use is Rid-ich.

You can use ich meds to supplement the salt treatment, but be advised that the most effective ich meds contain malachite green and/or formalin...both of which are toxic to small Cichla in a big way. If you are going to use ich meds along with salt and a high temp, you MUST use very strong aeration and only dose the meds at a half dosage at most. It will take a little longer to treat, but the treatment will be far safer for the small Cichla.
Hope that helps a bit. Good luck.
