Looking for advice. I've got an estblished 90g with mbunas (medium aggressive mbunas). I've got a 55 with 5 yellow labs, an old s. fryeri (non aggressive), 6 young peacocks (4-2.5 inches new additions, 1-3inches, 1-3.5 inches). I've just set up a bare 45g 3 days ago that now house 2 3.5-4 inch peacocks with a fat 5 inche l. trewavasse and a large pleco.

I have an empty 300g tank with 140g sump that will be set up in a couple of months (floor needs to be reinforced first). The intent is to have a peacock/hap tank. I'm coming across fish now from local people and want to take advantage of these fish now as they always aren't available.
I have the opportunity to obtain some more juvie peacocks and some peacock/haps int he 4-5 inch range (one is a venustus).

Trying to figure out how I can house them, if even possible. I would like to get rid of (not flush!) the mbunas in the 90 gallon tank, but don't know how long that might take. I even have access to a few 7-8 inch haps that I would love in my eventual tank but just don't see how I can get them now!

Don't know how many fish I can have in the 45? I don't think it's a good idea to move the 90g mbunas to the 45 and put the peacocks into the 90. Getting another tank is not an option!!! I would really like to avoid filling the 300 and having it temporarily run in the garage. If I did I could run a large HOB on the 300 and watch the water parameters. It would not have alot of stocking at this point.

Some of you may just say wait until the tank is set up...I'm trying to speed up the process by collecting fish now.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Post an ad on Craigslist or your local fish club and give away the mbunas.
You really need to have a detailed list to get people interested in. If the Mbunas aren't hybrids, they should be claimed quickly. Seems like clearing out the tank fast is better than trying to even get $1 or $2 per fish.

You could also ask the people selling you the haps if they want them.

Strange...just got the email notification today of your post from Dec 14th???

I did end up selling all the mbunas off craigslist to a single person, worked out excellent for both of us. I now have many haps and peacocks (2.5-4 inches) in that 90g tank and will be temporarily setting up the 300g in the near future so I can house 8 large fish from someone in a nearby town. In a couple of months the 300g can be moved to its permanent location. Willing to go through the work of moving a 300g tank to get these fish. Call me crazy, would be the first time ;)
