Fellow MFKers,

I purchased a 300 gallon tank and need help with the filtration system. This tank came with two corner "overflow?" on the back corners and there is an empty slot behind the overflows as seen far left in the picture. The stand is about 2ft tall and I know there is no way to fit a wet/dry filter in it. I'm stumped on how I can get this thing running (its just sitting in my living room calling me to fill it up). I've been looking thru the threads and haven't came up with an idea yet. Give me some ideas so that I can get this thing running.

And tell me, whats the purpose of the open slot behind the overflows?

The tank does have four bulkheads on the backside of the tank if that will help.

Is there anyway for that back "slot" to be filled from the overflow?

I have seen tanks that have a built in "sump" for lack of a better term, a place where bioballs or filter matter can be placed. But it doesn't look that this is one of them? Hmm. BTW, you could fit a sump in a 2-foot space, especially if you make your own sump.

You say there are 4 bulkheads on the back? And I see there is definitely one on the bottom. Interesting. Don't know if I've seen a setup like that one. Hopefully someone else can give you more info.

Yea, there are four bulkhead openings on the back and then one each in the "built-in sump" that allows for external filtration. But the thing is that if....with the bulkhead, extension pipe and elbow...that would leave me with only 20inches of room to fit a custom wet and dry in.

Yea, this is a tough one. Hopefully some of the experts can chime in.

I'm thinking, maybe the open slot behind the built-in sump was there to run the air lines or canister filters without having everything visible.

Anyone else have inputs?

Hmm hard to tell from the picture, maybe different angles and the cover totally off would help.

Maybe like you said to run stuff into the tank, either to hide stuff or get it closer to the wall.

Can you contact the seller?
