Ok Ive been doing more and more research on this topic and would like to know what you guys think. Im looking at getting a 650 gallon glass tank (96Lx49.5Dx30.5H) that has 45 degree corners. The sump will be 150 gallons. It will have two overflow boxes, each box will have a 2'' drain and a 1" return. I plan to keep two maybe three coral cat sharks in the tank and maybe a couple tangs. There will be some live rock in the tank to provide shelter but the majoirty will be open space. What I need is ideas, drawings, photos, videos, ect... on how to set this up. Ive always been one to over filter; hence my 1750gph flow on my 125 gallon cichlid set-up. But Ive read that i shouldnt have anything in the tank such as returns, overflows, ect..... Im not sure if thats true or how to get around it. Tell me what you think, Id like to know what protein skimmers you think would be best, the flow rates of the tank, the pump, filter, ect. Help me from the ground up so ill have something to build on.This set-up wont be for a few years as I like to take it slow and do it right. Feel free to email me at joestyle814@yahoo.com

For skimmers you should look into Super reef Reef Octopus. They are a good skimmer that is comparably cheap. There are better brands out there but be prepared to pay 1000+. Not sure why you wouldnt be able to have returns or overflows...doesn't really make sense. I dont see a problem though my company mainly sets up Reef aquariums. As for flow you should look into a few mp40s or maybe even a mp60. These will create the best flow possible for that size system.

I think you should go bigger on your sump...however i could be mistaken, the general rule told to me that 33% of the display tank volume should be the sump size. I could be wrong with larger systems, in your tank I could picture a school of yellow tangs, 2 corals cats and some small rays...would look interesting....throw a lion fish too....That tank is gonna look sick when your done with it lol

I only had one brand aqua c...and I stand by it.

Good Luck keep us posted...love monster tank builds
