Help with stress/stretch marks on acrylic tank.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That is some really bad crazing. Where did you get this tank? Did you buy it new? What kind of stand is it on?

30" tall with 1/2" thick acrylic?

That is some serious crazing and there is nothing you can do about it. Sorry. It isn't a deal breaker, but I wouldn't put it in my living room. It could hold water for years and years, or,...not so much.

If it is a new tank, it shouldn't have that. Usually older tanks have that. It can be caused by the flame polishing process. Someone over did it. Sometimes on older tanks, window cleaner will do that too. I wouldn't be too happy if it was a new tank. Good Luck.

1/2 is about as thin as you can go on 24" depth, crazing is basically mini fractures in the acrylic caused by bowing. Shouldn't be a huge issue other than looks funny when viewed at weird angles. Odd place and odd pattern though, my old tank had it more in the middle where it bowed the most
