If not for the lack of splotching around the bottom I would say female.. do to shape and condition.

But for the lack of splotching.... But still somewhat there...

I would say Flip the fish over get a clear shot of the Vent and post it.


Can you get a pic when the fish is darker? Or get one without the Flash too? And as stated above with the vent?

The vent is right behind the anus. I catch the fish in my net. then I flip it upside donw in my net so i can clearly see the underside of the fish.. Aim camera at directly the anal cavity and shoot a clear picture

It takes some acquired sight.. But after a few you get it down.. there are always species of cichlids that are deceptive.. But usually you can easily tell V=male And U= Female
