I am receiving my shiny new 180g next week, so I need to order a pump ASAP. Here is my specific situation. the tank will be in the living room area, right in front of the stairs leading to 2nd floor, so everything needs to be inside the overflow, no visible lines or filter parts except for the nozzles. The biggest concern is the NOISE level that the pump will put out. The overlow itself will have a durso stand pipe to make it quieter.
Tank 180g 72x24x25 Glass, built in overflow, trapezoid on the side of the tank (against the wall, to give the taank a "clean" look).
Sump 40g glass tank NOT Drilled but can be if necessary.
BTW, it's just a sketch, the pump can be inside the tank or outside, plumbed in.
So, the quesiton is this: What is In your opinion, the best choice for the pump that is good, reliable, but also, IMPORTANTLY, very quiet or can be made so. It has to run about 1,500 gallons or so at about 7' of head (after a ball and check valve and a couple of elbows). I have been recommended Mag 24 but also hear about noise problems w/them, as well as some heat issues. What is a good and VERY VERY quiet pump out there. Money is concern, but I would rather spend a bit more (but not too much) and get one that is quiet.
Thanks, in advance, for any help with this.
