I will be giving a talk on predatory fish for a local fish club, part of the talk is on Hoplias “Wolf fish”. While I have collected, kept and even breed a few different species of wolf fish, I have only kept malabaricus, lacerdae, australis and Erythrinus. I am in particular looking for info and photos on macrophthalmus (Giant trahira), aimara, microcephalus and teres. I have not kept these.

Any info or photos would be greatly appreciated

I highly doubt you kept a lac, if you did, pics or it didn't happen lol. You won't find any info on macrophthalmus because it's just another name for aimara. Micro and teres have yet to be kept so another two you won't find much anything except maybe scientific documents on, try google for those.

So what are you looking for exactly? Did you try the search function here? There is a lot out there, ignore the typical reputation stuff of them being killers, they're like every other wolf, the specific specimen decides if it's a killer or not. Australis has just begun to be kept so info may be limited as well. Only true lac we've seen on his board with consistent updates over the years is DB's, he tried to get another lac buying many wolves and never got another, don't think anyone else in the U.S has reported one atleast. If you don't want to search you may want to simply ask questions

I collected lacerdae and Australis while I was in Uruguay and kept both of them in the aquarium.

lacerdae

australis
Doesn't look like the australis we generally see in aquaria... as for the lac I can't tell off of that pic but looks possible. Are you aware of the fairly new species mbigua? We were seeing fish that we couldn't ID which showed both traits of lac and mala shortly after popping up in the hobby it was described, or atleast we found the article shortly after and found the article to be recent.
