Hey guys,

One of my juvenile yellow labs (I think its the male) keeps sitting on the sand today. When I go to put food in, it swims up and takes a bit, but by the time it goes for more, the rest of the fish have cleared everything up.
Any ideas what's up with him?

Cheers

is he new to the tank? is he nipped? what are the other fish?

nope, went in with the suartgranti's, the acei's, the blue zebra's, and the gershaki's. I had 2 larger aurateus, and 2 larger maingo (still in there) when i put the rest of them in, but they've shown no aggression towards him, or any of the other fish really (just keep it in between themselves).

I've also noticed that the lab likes to 'hang' either head up, or head down, vertically.
Bit strange really....
Any thoughts?

How long ago did he go in with everyone? Maybe he feels as if theres a few to many in the tank and is protecting his area?

Yeh i thought stress too, but i dont know why. not being harassed by any of the other fish, and ive made sure he gets something to eat. Dont think any of the fish have really setup a 'territory' really...all just swim around randomly, all over.
Ill keep monitoring him, and let you know if anything new happens.

Thanks!

yellow labs.. {electric yellows} are very laid back non aggressive africans.. i never kept them with the fish you mentioned until they were much older and bigger.. they are kind of sensitive.. and stress easy.. if you can let him grow out somewhere else i would do it.. or it could be a female holding.. they start quite early... pics please
