there are tiny red coloured worms growing in my aquarium , i am using white sand and these worms are like little strand of red hairs sticking out of the sand. some came out of the sand and its pretty long , like 1 inch long . anyone knows what is that? a parasite ?
is it harmful to my fishes?
and how do i clear it .

thx alot.

I had something like that ones. I don't know what they are but what I did to get rid of them was a 50% water change and added some fresh water aquarium salt. a table spoon per gallon, eventually they disappeared. Maybe you can try that.

I have seen tiny white worms in aquariums(which are mostly harmless)but I don't recall ever seeing red ones.

Probably related to the white worms, some type of planaria.

Have you fed your fish any live food recently? They could be tubifex worms or blackworms.
