Hey guys so when i went on vacation about 4 weeks ago i left the person that was taking care of my stingray to feed him with a pvc pipe. The ray ended up getting a few minor scratches from the edge of the pvc pipe. Anyway, they dont seem to be healing and i am starting to get worried that they will leave scars on him/will get infected. My sand is very fine, could it be getting into the wound and preventing it from healing correctly? I would change the sand but i am getting his 180 gallon tank this weekend, so i would be wasting a lot of money if i got new sand for a few weeks. The injury that the pics are of is the scratch on his eye. Any thoughts on how to help his injuries IMG_0625.JPGIMG_0626.JPGIMG_0627.JPGIMG_0628.JPGheal?

looks like it's had quite a few problems, judging by the condition on the front of it. don't seem like scratches from pvc pipe as they are long and straight.

best thing for it is clean water, maybe a little salt added (dissolve it in a bucket before adding to the tank), but mostly just clean water.

I was gonna say he looks like he has been to close to a heater too. With clean water it should heal I wouldn't be too concerned as long as he is eating and behaving normally and it doesn't appear to be spreading or infected

Add a few lbs of salt for 3-4 days and start flushing it out on about the 3rd or 4th days.

And what's your temp at?

The wound must already be infected.rays generally start to heal quick in a day or two. I have used kanamycin and works very effective to heal infected wounds quickly.
If you dont see results with the salt I would consider doing one dose of antibiotics.

Keep your temp low .78 -80
