i have just feed my 12inch rtc some sprats he ate 7 hole ones then about 2 hours later throw them all up again he is now looking for food i am now doing a 50% water change when do i feed him again is this normal he was not feed for 5 days the water is all clowdy and oily that is why im doing the water change please help i dont want to loose him

That’s what happens when you over feed them they will throw up sometime, They are like a dog they will eat and eat the trick is to not feed it so much in one sitting. You will end up with a 3 foot fish on 2 years. I feed my one little and often. also i do 2 x 25% water changes every week.

totally agree. I feed mine about 1/4 of what he could eat in one meal every other day. I haven't had a catfish throw up in the past year that I have been doing that. Granted when they were smaller they were fed daily, and when tiny like 1.5" twice daily just have to stay away from large portions especially when they get older. I feed my 3' hybrid 1/2 lbs to 1 lbs every other day. He can down a whole 2.5 lbs of shrimp or fish in one sitting if I let him, but hey then he'd probably get sick. Imagine cleaning up 3 lbs of half digested shrimp in a 350 gal pond. Ugh!!!

LOL yeah cleaning up a puke tank isn't fun ... Your RTC should be on an every other day feeding.... just enough to see the belly ball... When they are smaller... everyday.. my 4" is everyday but once he hits 8-10 I'll back him off to random days off... around 12"-14" every other day... once over 24" I'll randomly feed every second to 3rd day. Not that it's how you need to do it .. just how I plan to do it.
