hi all,

well i got my rtg home 2 week ago and he's eating fine. he doesn't like the pallet much, prefer the mp better, but i feed him both. he's getting rounder and he very healthy. however, his anal fin and tale fin is getting splitty, and kinda have wright spike at the end. do you think it might be the water parameter? i did all the water test and it perfectly fine. please him, i'll try to post some pic later.

thk

Agreed.

Who are the mates ? ;)

here's a update video of his tale. also the tip of the fins is like dark brown, like a burn. do anyone know what cause it?

tankmates are 4 orange and 1 black gold fish, and two pleco. i know the tankmate couldn't have cause that problem.

please keep, the fin is getting thinner by the day.

i'm using big Al's conditioner every water change.

what is the temp of the tank?

the temp is at 82. everything is fine except i have a hp spike but i did a water change and now its back to normal. however now the water is cloudy but it'll clear up in a day or two.

Just an idea I’d like to throw in the discussion, from what you’ve described it sounds like fin rot.
Especially the tips being brown and white, if it is it won’t kill him but it’ll need treating. Lot of products on the market and I’m sure that some one with more knowledge than me will recommend the best brand in your country.

I don’t own Arowana yet but I own lots of other smaller fish and some of them have had problems in the past with fin rot. I believe it’s because the tank temps have been too high which allowed nasty bacteria to thrive. Some of my fish were in small tanks so the water got too hot. I was loosing them regularly. I changed the tanks for bigger ones and I haven’t lost any since.
Obviously you keep your temps steady, but it might be too hot for your fish.
Here heaters are not used at all; big bodies of water don’t change much temp wise too quickly but I know 180gal up will not reach 82. Even my 10gal tanks don’t get that hot.
I am not saying this is a definitive answer, I’d like opinions as well.
