, i have this film forming on the water surface of my 20 gallon

i just got a new rena canister filter and i never had film until i got this filter

anyone know what this film is from and how i can get it to go away

You have film on the surface because you have no water movement breaking the surface tension. Water movement at the surface is what adds disolved oxygen to the water. You can easily fix this by adjusting the outflow of the filter so it breaks the surface tension, simply add an air stone to your tank. Do it quickly though, your fish will be gasping for air pretty soon.
