Hi, i have just noticed that one of my 2 Oscars has got some white triangular chunks missing from his head...it sort of looks like he has had bites taken out of him, as they are quite deep set (about 2/3 mm?). They weren't there yesterday so i only assumed he had been fighting, only they all seem to get on fine usually, that i can tell.....although i'm worried it might be something more sinister.

Parameters:
The water is changed on a weekly basis (approx 50%) and added to the buckets, before tipping it in, is aquasafe liquid. He is housed with a Clown Knife, 3 pangasius, 3 plecs and an Aulonocara male, so it is cleaned of faeces that regular too.
The temp. is 27/28 degrees consistently.
The nitrates and ammonias are normal.
The Oscars in particular are fed veg flake and mixed flake, white shrimp, peas, sea food sticks, beef heart flake and Hikari Red floaters and cucumber , so can anybody suggest what's going on and why, please beacause i have no idea what's up.
Mnay thanks.

do you have any sharp decore in your tank? my "O's" were like that....at night one got scared and all the others did too and run head first in to the lava rock i had in there. So, i run my "O" tank with nothing in it.

There is a large piece of slate in there that forms the top of a cave but nothing else really. I have noticed that they seem to jump to the surface sometimes and the other day managed to flip onto the condensation tray and off again so maybe he's been up to that again. I dunno?

might be...but just add aquariam salt and bump the temp to 84 to 86 dagree's and add a extra airstone. and keep on the wter changes.

I will try that and see how they get on.
Many thanks.

I don't think it is HITH as it happened overnight, most likely to be that he's banged his head on something but i appreciate any help in sorting that out as well...thanks

:headbang2Must have been just a bump on the head as all is clear now. She looks lovely again and I'm so relieved. Thanks for everyones help and advice!:chillpill:

Yep, HITH doesn't appear over night. Blocking off access to the condensation thing is probably a good idea.
