I have a red tail barracuda and it has a patch of skin that looks as if it is peeling and has turned a whitish color. Does anyone know what this is? I am guessing that it is some kind of a fungus. Please help me. This fish is like my baby and I don't want anything to happen to it. LOL.

Photo?

Im gonna say fungus, my Oscar just got beat up really bad by a much smaller Jag and after Hospitolization he develuped a white fungus over wounds. I salted, mela-fixed, and raised the temp 86 degrees. I treated for 14 days however the fungus was visibly gone in 6 days so I doubled treatment time to be sure anything else was dead. There are pictures on my thread for my Oscar if you'd like to compare your fungus with mine search under my name.

Maybe a fungus but could be a heater burn or something else. I would go ahead and begin treating with melafix.
