I have a 55 that i was going to put my new flowerhorn in with a divider, hopefully temporary! I have a female flowerhorn that is very tolerable of other fish and hopefully they will get along. I also have a red texas in there that got beat up in my other tank and got what looked like body fungus on his wounds. I have been treating the tank with pima and mela fix and he now looks fine and no more fuzz! It is day 5 of 7 days of treatment and my new flowerhorh arrives today. Should I put him in there since it will be his tank or do I put him in a different divided 60 gallon with another male until the treatment is done and the fish is out? By the way all fish are between 3 and 4 inches and will not stay together much longer! Thanks in advance for your help!

I would divide them. You have to be 100% sure that he is no longer infected. Plus just putting in two FH's don't work, you have to divide the male and female until they are ready.

Will it be safe for him and is it fine to treat the last 2 days then do a water change? Will it stress him out or could it maybe benifit him a lil after his transport? Melafix says to treat for 3 days when fish are handeled?

Whats up with all these divided tanks?
22.5gal is not enough space for a flowerhorn. Seems like your got too much aggression and not enough tank space.
*Also be careful treating with 2 meds at once like that. Usually that is too stressful and will kill all fish.

I agree. You should have 1 flowerhorn per tank and you really need to have a quarantine tank for all these fish so everything doesn't have to suffer when something new comes in. Flowerhorn are very suceptible to sickness disease and parasites which is why you don't see a lot of them full grown. Even if you have to put 1 of them in a ten gallon at least you're not infecting other fish. And for fishingout pimafix and melafix areabout the 2 most common aquarium meds that are all natural and safe that are meant to be used together..

Ahhh, Ive always wonder what the purpose of Pima was. I always keep a bottle of Mela in case fungal or bacterial infection and have had great success with it in the past.
So in other words, Mela is the remedy and Pima is a preventive?

This is temporary as I said in the begining. A fish almost died and I would rather divide for a while than let a fish die. I have a 55 and a 60 for 2 new small flowerhorns. Right now they are in a divided 55 so none are with infected fish. Both are 2 to 3 inches so they should be ok for a lil while. Thanks for the input and concern, I appreciate it! The 2 imports came in and are looking good! Thats the 2 new fish. I will post pics in another thread when they settle in. There was a problem but I dont want to get into it right now. lol
