my amazon sword plant looks like something has been eating it? I have a baby peacock cichlid just barley an inch, a spotted cory cat and mystery snail with a few ghost shrimp... would any of those eat the plant?? Its starting to look kind of bad, and I'd like to keep my plant.

... then you should get rid of the snail ... :(

Only very few snails are plant-friendly, among those are Malaysian trumpet snails. Ramshorn and apple snails are the worst! The bigger the badder! Only a heavily planted tank can support them. Otherwise, they clear out anything green.

thanks!! I no nothing at all about snails, I just though it was in a planted tank with the plants so I'd get one, guess that was a bad move. I feel retarded lol.

Otocinclus are great algae eaters for planted tanks and they don't get big at all, so you can put a few in there.

Okay I'll keep that in mind, thanks!

I second the ottos , they are great algae eaters and wouldnt hurt any plants i'm sure, snails are only good for feeding my puffer!

I agree with getting the ottos.

I have 3 on my 30 gallon planted tank, and they've done a wonderful job of keeping everything (glass, wood, plants) fairly free of brown algae.
