i did a water change and siphoing yesterday and went and got a new filter cartridge today and my pbass is breathing really heavily any abswers its scaring me.

Lower the water level a bit. What's the temp of the tank? Water parameter?

Water Is good and lemme check temp I have a heater so shouldn't be lower than say 80 and y lower water

More O2 in the tank is why you should lower your tank water.

I could never understand, how could a cartridge filter keep the bb in the filter if you are always changing the cartridge.....

Beneficial bacteria. Assuming your bass are still small (using a hang on the back filter and all). Raise the temp to 84-86 degrees and add a air stone or two. Doing so this will help you from future risks.

i don have any airstones will he survive w/o them he is about 4 in now i also believe he has ich but not 100% sure how to treat

That is why you can lower the water level to add more o2. Raise the temp to 86. Ich can't live in high temps.

2-4 inches. Just to where you see bubble hitting the bottom of the tank.
