I used 2 bags of Florite and now my water has been murky, really really murky. I still have all my plants in bags, what do I do????

I've already used some clarify, but everytime I move even a little around it turns into a mudd cloud, what do I need to do??

Thanks in advance!!!

Flourite needs to be rinsed before you put it into your tank. It will still have some dust, but that will settle. What was the active ingredient in the clarifier you used? Many chemicals are harmful to plants, and should not be used. Be very careful what you add to your planted tanks.

Flourite is going to be dirty when you put int in you tank. It will take a day or two before particles settle to the bottom or get caught in the filter. The cloudy water for a day or two will not cause any serous problems for most plants. :)

Well, after I read the bag it said I may use a product called "clarifiy" by Seachem (go figure, same co.) so I threw some in. It said "harmless to plants and reefs.

The problem I have now is when I try to plant a plant, the water gets cloudy again. How can I avoid this. Should I take the plants out and just do massive water changes till it settles?

Put the plants in let the dust free float. Add either a hob for a short time, or run your canister full of filter floss. Change frequently until the dust is gone.

Howdy,

I do not believe in rinsing a fertilizer before using it. I put a few gal of water in my empty tank. My unwashed fluorite got mixed with unwashed sand, used as bottom layer for the substrate. Then I added more unwashed sand on top of that, which sealed the flurite and prevented further clouding. Add a few gal of water, remove them. Add a few more, remove them. Repeat until water is clear. Then fill up tank and plant your plants.

As immediate action in your current case, I recommend 100% water changes until the water is clear. Your tank is not cycled yet anyways, and this way you get rid of any clarifier you have used.
