Ok so I have recently came across this species of catfish and immediately fell in love with them. My concern is the tank size. As I was originally going to upgrade to a 300g my wife is no longer liking that idea. Looks like right now a 125g will be my next tank. Is there any species of cats that are similar that I can keep in a 125g? Or even a 180-220. I can probably squeeze my wife into letting me get 180 to 220.

If you are looking for a close appearance, I can only think of what was formerly sold as Hemibagrus nemurus (the genus was split into 18 species recently by H. H. Ng = Silurus on PCF). Often called albino ARTC. Always albino. Cheap ~$5 at 2"-3". Mine is ~5-6 years old and still 12".

Or look through Bagridae and research: what catches your eye, has the right max size and adequate growth rate for your purposes, tolerates what tankmates, and whether you can get them (availability and price).

BTW, wyckii will grow pretty slow after 1'. So you might house it for long in an 8'x2' ~220 gal tank; wider'd be much better needless to state, like 6x3.

Seems like ARTC gets larger than the Crystal Eye Catfish(wyckii). I loved the one I had. One of my top 3 favorite cats.
