So I really like the look of this fish, I hear they can be pretty dang nasty to tank mates. Is there anything similar to them?

That isn't nasty? Not really. Their cousins Asian upside down catfish aren't real bad but don't sport much of a similar look than being jet black. H. Nemurus don't seem to bad but they're albino. There's a fish I can't think of that is peaceful though doesn't sport a similar shape but has a jet black body and I think have white on their fins, swim upright let me search.

Thanks, im really thinking about just going with a false tig in the 240.

Could do that. The fish I was talking about was called a black lancer catfish.

Wyckii can be kept in a community.

justarn justarn has a beautiful specimen :)

Their Cousin the True Asian RTC can't be housed with any tank mates :(

Ive just heard to many bad reviews on them. I dont want to have a large tank with just one fish in it.

I think mine is the exception, they are known to be as nasty as artc, mine still attacks his tankmates occasionally and I'm a little fed up with innocent tankmates getting ripped fins if I'm honest... only risk it with big robust fish that will be aggressive back in 300g and up is my advise then at your own risk, don't house anything expensive with one!-) butti and jag seem to do well.

wonder how a male dovii of similar size would do.. due to seeing that guy on pcf saying he had a dovii and similar sized artc in a 600 gallon that stopped bothering one another after noone was winning the battles, claimed both were around 2'

Look through the Hemibagrus genus or through the Bagridae family to see what strikes your fancy. Nemurus are mellow indeed, not innocent but got absolutely nothing on wyckii and wyckioides. There are ~15 more Hemibagrus now but they are not well known yet.
