hey guys just wondering what the minimum tank size for a single male specimen would be? I really want one of these bad boys but dont have space or money for another large tank, and if anybody has kept these guys tell me what there personality is like, I know they kill all tankmates generally but are they a "glass banger" or a "cave dweller"? thnx

I just picked up 2 F1's from Rapps. Mine are pretty mellow, they actually hang out together all day. If they have them at a LFS, I'd watch them for a few min just to see their temperament. I saw one at a LFS here in Washington, this dood was badass. He was punkin all the fish in his tank. Including a blackbelt that was about 7". The 5 star was no bigger than 2". So it all depends on the fish.

the only tank i have open now is a 37 cube 24x18x20, but im probably gonna get rid of it, thinkin about setting up a 40 breeder for one of these guys or anything in that range i find on cl, and i was thinkin bout ordering from rapps also, never see them at lfs
Rapps is the only person that has them, I did find a place in Cali that could get them... Rapps's are F1's though so that's worth it. If you only going to keep on of them, I think a 40 long would be ok. You will get fighting though when the tank gets a little crouded.
Oh yeah, check out Cornbread, he's a part of this forum, I know he has a pair that are spawning, maybe he'll have some that he can sell ya. Although, Rapps is in New Jersey so shipping shouldn't be that much for you.
