Yesterday, March 1, 2014 I was able to secure some Hemichromis frempogni juveniles. Having been keeping H. fasciatus for many years I was unable to find H. frempogni for sale or at least buy some fast enough.
After studying photographs of H. frempogni online there seems to be a few color variations perhaps due to locality. One variety seems to sport a more bright yellow coloration. Seach Google for Ted's Fishroom to see photos and video. There is another variation, my favorite, which is the green variety. You can search YouTube for H. frempongi the video is 3 years old, is 2:36 long and is by by Raubfischfan called balzendes Pärchen.
Anyway I believe I have the green variety.
Sorry for the poor photos, my blackberry bold is dated.
Two of the juveniles are already showing interest in each other.
Here are two photos while they were still in the bag. Note that when fish are bagged they are stressed out and not at their best but despite the conditions look at the red throat coloration and green along the body.
