My recently acquired H. frempongi pair from Germany spawned. I calculated the eggs would indicate if they were fertile by today or tomorrow.
Well the eggs are fertile I'm happy to say.
This is the pairs first spawn, which was unexpected. Heck these spawned effortlessly like a pair of trusty convict cichlids.
Anyway I watched both the male and female tenderly chew the fertile eggs free from the clutch of eggs the female laid on the tank floor located in the front of the tank.
Both shared in this activity. Interestingly they first moved the wrigglers to the flowerpot tray and afterwards to the rear of the tank.
Here is a short video clip. Once the fry are free-swimming I will post some more videos.
Hemichromis frempongi are excellent parents, I am really shocked by their awesome husbandry of their young.
