I have an opportunity to get some fry and I need some help since I have never owned this species before.

My plan is to get about one dozen and raise them by themselves in a 55 gallon tank (4ft). If a pair forms I will then get rid of the others and keep them alone. Is this a good strategy? I have read that these predators are vicious and nothing can be kept with them. Is that true?

this is an african cichlid so you may get better responses in this section http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=122

also try the search function to the top right of the posts, this will probably get you faster responses. as well as the scientific name try searching for " five star general".

I have heard they are monstrous fish that are easily capable of destoying fish larger than themselves and are largely unrivled with regards to aggression for their size. although I have never kept them but have read a little about them.
