Just sharing a few pics of my unidentified Hemichromis breeding pair. Strangely enough these guys have reversed roles - the female now completely ignores the eggs and it's the male (the one in the first two pics) that cares for them. If nothing crops up I should see fry by Sunday afternoon.

Great looking jewels! I had a pair that spawned and died suddenly. I have six of the fry left. I hope you fare better than myself!

Meh how ironic. I just came home to find all the eggs missing. Obviously been eaten. On the bright side, the female's swelling up again and there's no more aggression between her and the male...so I'm expecting another brood in a few days!

Were the ghost shrimp supposed to be tankmates, or food? That may be the answer to where your eggs went. Are there any other tankmates? Often times I've found that in a community setting, if the parents are uncomfortable with the situation, they will eat the eggs.

Nah the shrimp were gone even before they spawned. The first two pics are rather old. They share the tank with a 4.5" Polypterus senegalus, that's all. I'm sure they ate them because I witnessed the female eating about half of the eggs last night, until the male intervened. Well anyway they're first-time parents so I suppose this is pretty normal.

I'm pretty sure mine ate the eggs the first time out as well.
