Ok so I have a green light to buy a Henlei ray, though I wanted a Leo, but should I get a male or female. Is there any advantage to either one other than females getting larger?

Is this the only ray in the tank? If not, and there are other males in the tank, opt for a female. If it is your only ray, the choice is easy: choose the nicest one!

If its the only ray, and youre not going to add more, go for the best looking male.
It should stay a bit smaller and there shouldnt be a difference in looks. You can always pick up a female later if the ray bug bites you and you want more.

Without any female in the tank, the agressions to outdo another male don't exist. Since there are no female to impress, all the males get along perfectly with each other.
I don't really care for breeding, so it's perfect for me. I just don't have the patience to grow anything out, most ppl don;t realize the cost of upkeep a fish from food, water, headaches and etc. I'd rather pay the extra and get it just like I want it.
