Hi' All,

I picked up a Henlei x mantilla ray yesterday and it had a little red underneath, it was red in the middle of its underside and slightly red near it's mouth.
The ray had about a 2 hour drive home and was in a big bag so can't imagine it's ammonia burn, last time i seen a ray with ammonia burn it was the whole underside.

The ray is quite active and is eating well

Do i have out to wurry about?

Just keep water clean and keep an eye on it. Watch ray for odd behavior like holding it's disk off the bottom. Rays tend to turn red on their belly when stressed. Should go away in about a week. Just make sure it does not get worse.

Depends on if the ray just took a crap in the bag too as well... they can build up ammonia pretty quick in a bag.... might have gotten alil ammonia burn... how did u acclimate? I have been recently educated on the "Squirt and dump" method, which I heard works best when a ray has been in a bag.... just a thought. I would just monitor it like Fishdog said. he IS smarter and more expierenced than me...

OH.... we need to see pictures of your new find please...Dont make us wait haha

Hi'# Thanks for the reply's hopefully it will just be stress, the waters changed every few days so hopefully should go away shortly.

I'll post a vid in a sec.

In the vid theres the other tank mates which are all staying in the tank with the ray apart form the larger midas as its starting to become a pain in the ass.

Tank it is in is 4x2x2 until it gets a bit bigger to go in the 280g with my marble motoro
