Henward's New tank project.... after the nightmare that is 'The Crack'

it was a cold, rainy auckland saturday night - i was at a friends house, he had a mexican night... suffice to say tequila, sangrea and coronas were consumed..... i was.... not well.

then on sunday morning, after only 4 hours sleep

2 LOUD KNOCKS! henward, your tank water is not in the tank... its on the f..... floor!!!

Oh my GODDDDD!!!

i looked and yes, my nightmare, it as not a kinked filter tube or leaking canister which i was SO hoping for!!! my sump was almost dry, and water was EVERYWHERE, leaking EVERYWHERE lol

my stand was ... well suffice to say marginal in quality, i move in 3 months with a new steel stand, so i was just holding out that it wont do this, i have been for 4 years with this tank and its stand.... but unfortunately, this has happened. the crack is through and through.

in the tank i had more than 2000 NZD of fish!
i scrambled thanks to davids also uncontrollable desire to acquire fish and have numerous tanks, he happened to have a spare 4 foot to temporarily house them!

BUT... the grass is always greener on the other side.... my old one is gone 1655x50x50 and the new one is on its way. Today i commissioned the construction of my biggest tank i have ever owned, i have another one waiting to be set up in my new place thats 1175 litres lol

id like suggestions if my stocking is too much, just feedback would be awesome!

in this tank will be the following:
1x RTG arowana
11x clown loaches
1x six bar distichodus
1x 4 to 5 inch dat
1x 6 to 7 inch albino senegalus
1x 5 inch delhezi (maybe 3) not sure yet
2x spotted mettynis
2x silver dollars
2x red hook mettynis
1x 8inch flagtail
1x 4 to 5 inch royal pleco
1x 3 inch scarlet pleco

feedback on the stocking would be awesome.

i will post pics as soon as i got the tank

the stand was promised at latest by mid week next week. the tank will be completed already tonight as we speak or latest tomorrow, so that should be enough 10 days to cure.
i will fill it half way, and wait a few hours, then 75% then wait and see, then slowly but surely fill up, then heat the tank.
get the filter running and goin, i will pick up the clown loaches, albino bichir, 6 bar and plecs first.
then i will add the dat and arowana.
then the others.

any suggestion on reintro?
 
must have sobered up instantly ey ... quite a anti-hangover remedy.

sorry to hear about that , was the tank a old tank. now iam worried about putting a glass tank upstairs, i like the rtg idea
 
suck! my tank cracked too, i know the feeling, sooooo annoying but nothing you can do im afriad :/

start again and hope for the best fella :)
 
yeha, abit sucky bum *** of a thing to happen.
but, its all gooood, it was a very very old tank
it ws free lol, i got it free, and when i got it they said it was at least 15 years old. so that makes it 20 the day it cracked.
the woddenstands it was on was 13 years old. pro bably didnt help

that stand is nice!
but im not taking chances, im gtting steel stand built lol

1200 litres, i think steel will be my friend
