So I've had 2 groups of Odoe in separate tanks. Acquired at different times, so previous attempts to join them in the past seemed short lived. Once they got to somewhat similar size I felt they were too big to attempt to join in any tank I have except for the largest one, which is inhabited by Dorado. While they may both be Characins the behavior and temperament couldn't be further from opposite so instead of attempting something I assume would end in disaster I waited patiently. For years. Finally I have another decent sized tank. Large enough to attempt finally joining the 2 groups - a 4 and a 5 piece. While the cohab is early things have been going well. By about the 5th day I was no longer able to tell the 2 groups apart, they seem to be getting along. Almost wondering if the Aro doesn't play a role as it's the largest fish and seems to be the fish in charge.

Some pics..... :)

Which basement? The upper basement is my decompression chamber. The lower basement is the fish room.... ;)

I used to post a lot but quit after being pestered by a few people here about my "ugly dungeon" basement.... Well, times have changed. I'm no longer in a rental house.... Time had come to purchase a home. Now 3 years later stuff is finally starting to come together. Upper has a 750, 600, and 370 gallon tank. The couch sits on 35 cubic foot infrasub housing 4 18" subs. 5K+ watts on subs, 2K+ watts of Carver powered highs, mix of Vegas, Bose and Klipsch speakers.

Lower basement is more fishroomish..... Over 2K gallons down there. ;) Could do an update if you think its a good idea.... ;)

YES, PLEASE!!!!

I am SOOOOO jealous, until water change time.

Why? Are you thinking water changes are a long drawn out several hour process?:banhim:

I have a VERY short attention span. Long water changes leads to starting other projects which leads to forgetting and overflowing. That was fine in a rental, but not in the house I own.

See the black pipe on the right wall? It leads to this water change station on the other side of the wall.....

350 gallons worth of back flushing/draining refilling takes about 35 minutes right now. Will be upgrading from Gold darts to hammerheads for back flushing and refilling in hopes to clock under 20 minutes.....

The 600 and 370 are tied together and use same kind of sand filter the 750 does so times for that system are similar.

Water in the water change stations (1 in upper basement 1 in lower) is mostly RO, I add back some tap for substance. Turns out I may have been right all these years about my rays hating our tap water. When I moved I lost half what I had. Like 16 rays. The water switch to RO/tap mix seemed to remedy my health issues with the rays BUT also allowed for the entirely different, much faster maintenance routine..... A win win. There's actually another win in this situation - in the summer the sump pump carries the backflush water to a 300 gallon rubbermaid tub outside where its used for the lawn. Man does the grass love it. Neighbor even questioned what the heck I was doing as the yards never looked so good.
