Since Hepsetus odoe/ odoe pike seem to be decent tank mates for bichirs and a fish store in Czech is offering some fairly large specimen for 40 Euro per specimen I might consider getting one for the 6.5ft tank.
I remember some years ago I was interested in this species but read that they tend to not live that long.
So before putting one on the list of fish I am ordering I want to ask the people keeping this species about the average life span of those beautiful characins.
